Nasi Lemak @ Nasi Lemak & Satay - Suria Sabah

Often cited as Malaysia's national dish, nasi lemak is traditionally eaten at breakfast, though it can most definitely be enjoyed any time of the day. A basic nasi lemak consists of coconut steamed rice with pandan, boiled egg, cucumber, ikan bilis, peanuts and sambal, great on its own and even better with added beef rendang, as I had here at Nasi Lemak & Satay.
Where do you eat your nasi lemak and who serves the best beef rendang? Leave a comment and let me know!

Selection of add on items for your nasi lemak.

Nasi Lemak & Satay is located in Suria Sabah's Food Court on the 3rd floor.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Lemak, 1x Ice Milo = 8.70 MYR

Nasi lemak enjoyed all day @ Suria Food Court.

Coffee n Cake @ Secret Recipe - Suria Sabah

Secret Recipe describes itself as a 'lifestyle cakes and cafe chain' and is well placed around KK, Malaysia as well as internationally. The cakes here are pretty delicious, Chocolate Indulgence is probably my favourite but I thought I'd try something different today with the Cheeze Choc cheesecake, thunmbs up from me and probably anyone else who likes chocolate or cheesecake!

The Little Nibbler loves a brownie and ordered the chocolate brownie with walnut, covered with chocolate sauce. Big smiles from The Nibbler!

I ordered the ice blended chocolate, a bit of a chocolate overload to be honest! The Nibbler had a cafe latte.

We headed to Suria Sabah for our Secret Recipe experience.

The Bill : 1x Cheeze Choc, 1x Walnut Brownie, 1x Ice Blended Chocolate, 1x Cafe Latte = 35.40 MYR

Secret Recipe = cake lovers heaven!

Chicken Rice @ Hing's Corner Chicken Rice - Suria Food Court

Chicken Rice was the order of the day today. Remembering that Hing's Corner was pretty good the first time around (pre-blog) I thought I'd give it another try! With steam Chicken, honey Chicken and gizzards on offer I decided to go for a mix (without the gizzards I have to add!) Both types of Chicken were very good indeed though for me the honey BBQ was the tastiest with it's sweet, smoky flavour. The rice is pretty tasty too, I almost ordered satu lagi, it was that good! Ginger, Chilli and Sweet Soy are great accompaniments to go with this delicious dish all washed down with an Ice Milo, perfect!

Entrance to the food court at Suria Sabah, on the third floor.

Queues starting to form.

Jesselton Residences watch!

The Bill : 1x Mix Chicken Rice, 1x Ice Milo = 8.50 MYR

Clay Pot Beef Rice @ Clay Pot Delight - Suria Food Court

I fancied something hot and filling today for lunch, and that's exactly what I got! When I took the lid off the Clay Pot there was a huge cloud of steam and the Black Pepper Sauce was bubbling furiously!
I'm never too sure of the protocol for eating Clay Pot, are you supposed to leave the lid on for a while? Or do you take it off straight away? Do you stir or not stir the contents of the Pot? Who knows? Today I left the lid on until hunger took over, then I mixed the ingredients, making sure to get all the crispy bits off the bottom of the Clay Pot - Yummy! This is a really filling dish consisting of rice, beef, black pepper sauce and an egg, topped with a sprig of coriander. Spicy and nicey!

Clay Pot Delight is located on the third floor of Suria Sabah in the food court.

Fantastic views from outside and inside Suria Food Court.

Ooh let's have a closer look at how the Jesselton Residences are coming along!

The Bill : 1x Clay Pot, 1x MY Cola = 8.50 MYR

Hot, spicy and filling - ticking all the right boxes for me today!

Pan Fried Fish Cake & Home Made Egg Noodle @ Kuo Man Restaurant - Suria Food Court

Kuo Man Restaurant's Home Made Egg Noodles are famous here in KK. One look at the full tables and queues of hungry people most mornings outside their shop in Sunny Garden speaks volumes. Today I decided to try their other branch located in Suria Food Court at Suria Sabah. To go with the Noodles I ordered their self proclaimed 'must try' dish, Pan Fried Fish Cake. I'm guessing the fish cake is the same mixture as their fish ball, flattened out and fried. Its the first time I've eaten fish cake this way and have to say, for my taste it's just ok, nice enough, you can tell it's definitely home made and not manufactured though which is a plus. Sweet chilli sauce is a spicy accompaniment.

The Noodles are pretty good served in a nice savoury sauce, quite simple. Personally I'm not to sure what all the fuss is about, but I'm not about to argue with the fine people of KK, maybe I just need a few more noodle eating years under my belt!

You can find Kuo Man Restaurant here in Suria Sabah or at Sunny Garden, if you go to the latter be prepared to wait for a table!

Fantastic views over Gaya Island and TARP, Suria Food Court's a great place for a meal, with seating outside and in.

I can't help but think that the architects and developers of KK have missed a fantastic opportunity to fully incorporate these stunning views in their developments, why exactly do the car parks of Centre Point, Wisma Merdeka and Suria Sabah have such amazing views?

The Bill : Pan Fried Fish Cake, Home Made Egg Noodle = 11.50 MYR

Plenty of choice and stunning views are reason enough to check out Suria Food Court located on the third floor of Suria Sabah.
Kuo Man Restaurant has lots of dishes to choose from, give them a try, you'll be in good company!

Chicken Curry @ Upperstar Restaurant & Bar - Suria Sabah

Malaysian Chicken Curry is a dish that I love. It can be found almost everywhere in KK, it's a favourite of mine and I don't think I've had a bad one since I've been here!
Upperstar's Chicken Curry may not be the best I've tasted but it is still very good and more often than not I'll pick this over other items on the menu.
Generally the portion is huge with lots of meaty chicken in a nice spicy curry sauce, sometimes I could do with more sauce but I'm pleased to say today there was plenty. You get a good portion of rice though I have to say it is often quite dry. Cucumber and tomato come as a small side and it's topped off with a fried egg which is pure Malaysian genius.

Only available at this outlet are the Chicken and Lamb Kebabs, I'm a big fan of meat on sticks so I gave the lamb a try. I'm pleased I did as they where very tasty, pieces of lamb and onion threaded on sticks, grilled and smothered with a sweet savoury sauce accompanied by a thai inspired chilli sauce, not too sure they need two sauces but the thai chilli is great all the same.

              To drink I had a Vanilla Smoothie which is great on a hot day, topped with cream and chocolate sauce. The Little Nibbler opted for a hot Milo.

Upperstar's Suria Sabah branch is located on the ground floor at the back entrance.
The decor is, well, full on! With hardly a space left on the walls or ceiling, its jam packed with pictures of all kinds, musical instruments, frescos on the ceiling and old fashioned light fittings. It's what we call in England kitsch, go in and take a look for yourself!

                                        The Bill :  1x Chicken Curry       6.80++
                                                         2x Lamb Kebabs       3.30++
                                                         1x Vanilla Smoothie  6.95++
                                                         1x Hot Milo                2.80++

                                            Total :  23 MYR

Personally I like Upperstar, though I didn't think I would at first and this isn't my favourite branch but they are great places to meet, eat, drink and be merry!
