Local Food @ Ethnic Sabah - Grace Point Food Court

Dinner tonight was at a well visited destination for us, Grace Point Food Court, though it has to be said we feel the food quality has been a bit lacking lately and lets face it the drinks could be a whole lot better. Luckily tonight there were no such concerns as the Ethnic Sabah stall did us proud! I opted for the tried and tested Fried Fish Set, that now comes with a savoury sauce along with green beans fried with egg and what is possibly called nasi merah, a red coloured nutty rice. I believe this is quite a popular pick here.

The Little Nibbler plumped for the Ginger Chicken Set, plump being a good word to describe the chicken leg smothered in a ginger sauce accompanied with the same sides as the fish.

A dish of grilled aubergine with egg caught our eye, and this turned out to be a highlight and I'm sure a repeat order! I'm not exactly sure how it's made or how to describe it but it tasted wonderful and smoky, delicious!

Grace Point Food Court is located at Grace Garden.

The Bill : 1x Fried Fish Set, 1x Ginger Chicken Set, 1x Grilled Aubergine, 2x Ice Milo = 25 MYR

I can highly recommend Ethnic Sabah @ Grace Point Food Court!

Western & Local Food @ Table No.1 - Tanjung Aru

Another great new restaurant, Table No.1 At Tanjung Aru. We kept a close eye on this place when it was being renovated from a bright yellow house to what you see today, a brilliant, bright white restaurant! I also wondered, what kind of food would it serve? I must say that from the sign outside it seems quite confused, pasta, nasi lemak and grills?!? But from looking at the menu, seeing other peoples food come out and finally eating the food, there's nothing confusing about it at all! With local and western food on offer there's plenty of choice but not so much that it's overwhelming and leaves you wondering how on earth could they cook so many dishes and do them justice too!
There were quite a few dishes that caught my eye, I now have at least five reasons to go back, but it was the Rendang Oxtail Platter that got my vote. A fantastic tasting, spicy rendang with a generous portion of oxtail that just fell off the bone, this was served with rice, egg omelette, a spicy almost pickled salad of vegetables and crackers, simply delicious!

The Little Nibbler went western choosing Crispy Skin Salmon with Pesto. Perfectly cooked salmon on top of an assortment of sauteed vegetables with a creamy pesto sauce. Yummy! Thumbs up all round! Its well worth mentioning that the dishes are presented really nicely too, good job Table No.1!

Table No.1 is located at Tanjung Aru, heading down to First Beach and next door to Perdana Park.

As we didn't feel dressed for the occasion we decided to sit outside at one of their candlelit tables. The inside dining area looks lovely with bright white interiors and soft furnishings with different seating arrangements, really quite stylish!

The Bill : 1x Rendang Oxtail, 1x Salmon, 1x Coke Light, 1x Ice Lemon Tea = 84.70 MYR

See you in the not so distant future, Table No.1!

Local & Western Food @ Upperstar Cafe @ Bar - Segama

Upperstar seems to have something for everyone, so it's a great place to go to when you just can't decide what you want to eat! Normally for me it's the Chicken Curry but today I thought I'd try something different, the Malaysian Delight. Ok so I know it also includes chicken curry, but hey, I like Upperstar's chicken curry!!! Along with said curry you also get a couple of chicken satay sticks and a chicken wing. I was a little disappointed because on the menu it definitely looks like a portion of nasi goreng is included, but I received plain rice, oh well never mind, it was topped with a sunnyside up which is never a bad thing In my opinion. All in all pretty tasty!

The Little Nibbler had the Lamb Chops, which infact is lamb shoulder but who's quibbling! A generous portion of lamb along with fries, coleslaw and African sauce. Now what makes this sauce African we really don't know, but it has a nice, spicy peppery kick.

All washed down with a couple of Heineken sets!

This branch of Upperstar is located opposite The Hyatt and is open every evening from 16.30 onwards.

The Bill : 1x Malaysian Delight, 1x Lamb Chop, 2x Heineken Set = 65.55 MYR

Something for everyone @ Upperstar!
