Curry Laksa @ Penang Prawn Mee Stall - KK 56 Food Court

I'm always on the look out for new Laksa places and spotted this one last time I ate at Food Centre 88. With the promise of Penang Curry Laksa, I had high hopes but unfortunately it was nothing special, just ok. The broth had quite a spicy kick, possibly using the prawn mee broth but was a little oily, prawns, fish cake slices and beancurd puffs made up the main ingredients along with yellow mee. This is possibly more of an evening food court as only a couple of the stalls were open, I shall return one evening to investigate!

KK 56 Food Court is located at Asia City next door to Food Centre 88.

The Bill : 1x Curry Laksa, 1x Teh C Ping = 8 MYR

I think next time I'll try another Penang favourite, Keow Teow Goreng!

Hawker Food @ Food Centre 88 - Asia City

Not one of our regular breakfast haunts but somewhere I've been meaning to head back too for a while now, Food Centre 88 offers plenty of choice in a shady outside setting. Some of the stalls were closed today but there were still plenty of hawker favourites too choose from. The Penang Kuey Teaw stall caught my eye, so that was that! Unfortunately not all ingredients were available, luckily this didn't spoil my enjoyment of the dish as it was still very tasty, char siu was the main component along with noodles, egg, beansprouts and Chinese chives, yummy!

Kon Lau Mee was The Little Nibbler's pick, springy noodles with added pork fat, roasted belly pork, egg roll and topped with minced pork and chives.

Buka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Asia City

Asia City was todays destination to sample some of the delights at the Bazaar Ramadan. We came earlier today as two days previously we arrived too late and most of the food had been snapped up!

The Little Nibbler spotted this stall selling fantastic looking BBQ Chicken, Ayam Percik to give this dish it's proper name!

Looks delicious!

The crowds and interesting looking food caught my eye at this stall, 'Traditional local food' I was told.

Nasi Dagang.

Not sure what this is called I was just told Beef!

This was my pick.

The Nibbler liked the look of this Chicken Rendang.

The Ayam Percik was simply delicious with its rich coconut sauce. After some 'Googling' I've since found out that the chicken is first marinated, then cooked in a coconut/tamarind based sauce and then grilled over coals! Wow no wonder it tasted so good!

The Nibbler's Chicken Rendang came with Nasi Biryani, Veg Curry, Achar and Poppadoms. The Biryani was nothing special but the Rendang was pretty tasty.

I really enjoyed my first Nasi Dagang, a sticky rice infused with coconut. The 'beef' was on the tough side, but the sauce was wonderful and rich with coconut. Looking at the sign on their stall, I think they are located somewhere in Asia City, so watch this space for a future review.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Biryani, 1x Nasi Dagang, 1x Ayam Percik = 19 MYR

Bazaar Ramadan @ Asia City is yet another gastronomical adventure!

Duck Noodles @ Food Centre 88 - Asia City

What a great introduction to Food Centre 88, I don't know why but this was the first time I'd eaten here, it definitely wont be my last! For some strange reason on previous visits around Asia City I've just walked past it but today I stopped and had a look around. After eyeing up lots of possibilities I decided I was in the mood for noodles and this vendor caught my eye. With various meats on display I opted for Roast Duck, my next choice was dry or soup noodles, dry please. My noodles came dressed in a sweet savoury sauce with a small amount of green veg then a generous portion of roast duck breast was placed on top. Yum Yum!

Food Centre 88 is located along the pedestrian walk that leads up to Star City. The Roast Meat vendor can be clearly seen to the right of the photo.

The Bill : 1x Duck Noodles, 1x Chinese Teh Ping = 5.50 MYR

With lots to choose from and shaded seating I think Food Centre 88 could soon be a regular on my breakfast/lunch makan hunts!
