Banana Leaf Meal @ K.Sanba's Curry Specials - Alamesra

I had a fantastic Banana Leaf Meal today at K.Sanba's Curry Specials. I opted for the chicken curry meal and everything tasted great, from the vegetable sides to the dhal and of course the curry itself. Portions were plentiful and staff were friendly and helpful, there's also the option of extra rice and sides!

K.Sanba's is located at Alamesra, on the way out to 1Borneo Hypermall.

The Bill : 1x Banana Leaf Meal, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 13 MYR

They even ask if you want more @ K.Sanba's Curry Specials!

Chinese Food @ 3 In 1 Cafe - Lintas Plaza

This was our first visit to the intriguingly named 3 In 1 Cafe, I'm pleased to say it was a delicious first visit too! With set meals available, a la carte and 'with rice' deals, we opted for 'a la carte'. After studying the menu clay pot chicken curry caught The Little Nibbler's attention and I for one cannot resist sayur manis when it comes to stir fried green veggies.

The clay pot chicken curry arrived sizzling and smoking at the table. A fantastic warming dish of spices, potatoes and chicken in a lovely curry sauce. Sometimes though, I wish there was an option to have boneless chicken in dishes, today was one of those days as it would have been great to munch through this meal without worrying about bones, maybe in the future I should ask?

The sayur manis was really tasty, stir fried with lots of egg, we love this vegetable dish.

Ice lemon tea and Chinese teh ping.

3 In 1 Cafe is located in Lintas Plaza, opposite Restoran Salim.

The Bill : 1x Clay Pot, 1x Sayur Manis, 2x Nasi Putih, 1x Ice Lemon Tea, 1x Chinese Teh Ping = 25.30 MYR

Biryani Friday @ Nasi Kandar Anak Mami - Lintas Plaza

A tried and tested biryani this Friday from Nasi Kandar Anak Mami, this shop has never failed to serve top quality food in my opinion and I always leave happy and content! Today I opted for spicy chicken curry to go with my nasi biryani, this deserves special mention as it was lovely and the meat just fell off the bone. My side of achar was really good too, sweet, sour, fruity and spicy a perfect accompaniment with added pineapple and fresh chilli. The biryani was fragrant with cardamon, cloves and ginger, taking a look in the pot it was cooked up with chicken pieces, so the rice absorbs the flavour of the meat, delicious!

The Bill : 1x Nasi Biryani Ayam, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 11 MYR

Nasi Kandar Anak Mami never fails to deliver, delicious biryani!

Curry & Subs @ Seven Sea - Marketplace 88

This was our first visit to Seven Sea, a justifiably popular restaurant, it won't be our last! With my first choice regrettably not available I opted for the Yoghurt Curry Chicken with buttered rice.   A generous portion of boneless chicken, a rarity in KK, in a mildly spiced, creamy, curry sauce along with some chunks of potato. This was a tasty dish, maybe a little oily, but this didn't effect my overall enjoyment.

I have to say, I was a little envious when The Nibbler's Philly Cheese Steak arrived, it was huge!!! Tender strips of steak with fried onion and green pepper inside a massive wholemeal submarine roll, lettuce, mustard and of course Philly cheese was also in the mix. This is definitely a sandwich lovers sandwich!
I fancy one right now!!!

Seven Sea occupies a corner lot at Marketplace 88.

The Bill : 1x Chicken Curry, 1x Philly Cheese Steak, 1x Ice Lemon Tea, 1x Ice Coffee = 43.80 MYR

I can't wait for our next visit!!!

Cheese Baked Rice @ Coffee Friends - Tanjung Aru Plaza

For lunch today we decided to go to Coffee Friends, for the lovely yoghurt drinks they serve and their delicious food. We weren't alone as the place was packed with happy diners! I usually have the Chicken Curry but decided to try the Cheese Baked Rice with Prawns for a change, I was pleased I did as it was fantastic and taste wise it was something really unexpected, maybe even a little unusual! Egg fried rice topped with an Italian style tomato sauce, juicy prawns and lots of chewy cheese. Black pepper and spring onion was sprinkled on top, the best way I could describe it would be an Asian take on pizza where rice is used in place of dough??? It was really tasty and truly different! Maybe a little more of that tomato sauce would slightly improve it in my opinion.

The Little Nibbler opted for the Chicken Curry, In my opinion one of the tastiest Chicken Curries in KK. Chicken, potatoes and beancurd puffs smothered in a thick, spicy coconut curry sauce with definite hints of Thai flavour. Simply Delicious!

Papaya, lemon and yoghurt. Banana, lemon and yoghurt. Both drinks are blended with honey and ice, tasty and very refreshing.

Coffee Friends is located on the first floor of Tanjung Aru Plaza and could easily be missed if you didn't know it was there!

The Bill : 1x Cheese Baked Rice, 1x Chicken Curry, 2x Yoghurt Drinks = 34.40 MYR

Coffee Friends serves great tasting food using fantastic ingredients, if you havn't been for a meal yet, I strongly suggest you do!

Chicken Curry Noodles @ Restaurant Happy - Kingfisher Plaza

As we were in Kingfisher Plaza today, an area we don't know very well, we decided to have lunch there for a change. It turned out to be a great decision! We noticed the sign for Restaurant Happy and recognised it from Foh Sang, though we haven't been into that branch yet we decided to give this one a try.
My pick of Chicken Curry Noodles did not disappoint, a spicy, thick, curry of chicken with added fried potatoes went wonderfully with the noodles. A small bowl of Chicken Wanton Soup was served too.

The Little Nibbler's Butter Prawns were yummy too! Deep fried prawns in a light batter, smothered in creamy, butter sauce with the added kick of chilli.

Restaurant Happy is located in Kingfisher Plaza, occupying a corner lot more or less opposite Giant. As I've said there's also another branch at Foh Sang.

The Bill : 1x Chicken Curry Noodles, 1x Butter Prawn, 2x Chinese Teah Ping = 13.90

I'm sure Restaurant Happy is no surprise to some people but to me it was! I wonder what other great surprises are hidden at Kingfisher Plaza?

Baka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Tanjung Aru Plaza

We chose a smaller Bazaar Ramadan today located at Tanjung Aru Plaza, set up behind the hawker centre. There's not so much choice as some of the other Bazaars but there's definitely some great tasting food to be sampled.
This stall caught our eye straight away as Nasi Kuning was one of our favourite breakfasts in Indonesia on a previous visit to Kalimantan.

Smiley Happy People!

Here's my pick with Chicken Curry and Fried Egg.

The Little Nibbler's pick, Aubergine and Tempe.

Here's some Beef Rendang that looked rather good.

This fine, friendly gentleman we remembered from last year when we sampled his Singapore Sugar Banana, this year we went savoury with Popia and Prawn Fritters.

Great tasting Nasi Kuning infused with coconut and turmeric, the Chicken Curry was nice and spicy though I have to say pieces of chicken neck are most definitely not my favourite part of the bird!!! Haha, but each to his own! The sambal was simply delicious, not blow your head off hot but almost fruity. Yum Yum!

The Nibbler's choice of Aubergine and Tempe prompted the quote 'This has been my favourite Ramadan meal so far!'

The Beef Rendang was pretty tasty too, though some of the meat was a little on the tough side.

If only we could have had these straight out of the fryer! As I'm sure you'll agree fried treats taste better when fresh and hot!

Our Feast!

The Bill : 2x Nasi Kuning, 1x Beef Rendang, 2x Popia, 2x Prawn Fritter = 17 MYR

Not the greatest variety, but the greatest food, says The Nibbler!

Buka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Jalan Gaya

Yesterday I made the mistake of arriving at a Bazaar Ramadan too late, most of the food was gone! Today I wasn't going to make the same mistake! There's amazing food around KK during the month of Ramadan, one of my favourites is Nasi Biryani, and it's great to be able to choose from a few different stalls all conveniently located in one place!

This lady's huge pot of Biryani really caught my eye along with some very tasty looking Chicken Curry. I'm pleased to report that the food didn't disappoint, it was a pure delight, the rice was nice and fragrant and the curry had a lovely spicy kick.

Looks good to me!

Arabian Foods.

This lady's small stall also caught my eye with some interesting looking Chicken Kebabs, they reminded me in looks of a type of Tandoori Lamb Kebab (I forget the name now) that I've eaten in Indian Restaurants back home. Actually all her food looked great and I was tempted to try her Biryani too, but unfortunately I came to my senses and realised that one portion of rice was probably enough!!!

Tasty looking Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Kebab.

Nasi Biryani with Chicken Curry and Achar.

Chicken Kebab.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Biryani Ayam, 1x Chicken Kebab = 11 MYR

For foodies like me the holy month of Ramadan is a gastronomic delight, the question is which Bazaar Ramadan should I go to next?
