Italian Food @ Gusto Food & Wine - Waterfront

Bruschetta Romano
We started our lovely meal with some bruschetta. Sliced and toasted or griddled crusty bread, topped with pomodoro (Italian for tomato), garlic, basil and extra virgin olive oil. Fresh and simple but oh so tasty!

Rigatoni Gusto
Here's my pasta pick tonight, named after the restaurant (and quite possibly the chef), rigatoni pasta served with Italian truffle sauce and mushrooms. This dish was lovely and mushroomy, sprinkled with parmesan, I just wanted to lick the plate clean!

Rigatoni Norma
The Little Nibbler went for 'Sicily's favourite', rigatoni pasta in a deep tomato sauce with aubergine and topped with a sprinkling of Italian hard cheese, again very delicious!

Tiramisu
We ended our meal with Italy's classic and timeless dessert, lovely!

Bottle of House White Wine
Gusto's has a fantastic wine list, we opted for the house white, a chardonnay which was very enjoyable and drinkable too!

Gusto Food & Wine is located along KK's Waterfront and you can find it at the very beginning or at the very end, depending on which way you look at it!

Can't recommend Gusto's enough, great tasting, fresh Italian food from a hardworking 2 man (sorry, 1 man 1 lady) team.

Booze @ First Beach Cafe - Tanjung Aru

One of our favourite places to catch the famous KK sunset is at First Beach Cafe. Since its fairly recent refurbishment they've upped the availability of draught and bottled beer. We stuck to an old favourite of Skol to while away the hours. On friday evenings you can also catch the Fantabulous Lola doing 'her' thing!

Stunning views.

First Beach Cafe is located at ........ that's right, you guessed it!

The Bill : 3x Skol Bottle Set = 102 MYR

Beautiful sunsets, ice cold beer and the Fantabulous Lola - Fridays @ First Beach Cafe.

Booze & Pizza @ Bitz n' Pizzas - Marlin Roundabout

It wasn't so long ago that this restaurant was called Luigi Malones, it was open for a short while, then closed, refurbished, and then reopened with the new name of Bitz n' Pizzas. The menu is slightly different but the pizza is the same great taste, so I'm slightly confused about the name change?!? But hey, the pizza's tasty so who cares!

We decided to order a large pepperoni to share, I can only describe the pizza base as unique as I havn't eaten anything like it before, well apart from at Luigi Malones! It's light thin and crispy, just how I like a pizza base, topped with tomato sauce cheese and pepperoni, yummy!

We also ordered a side of fries, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle with a good helping of salt.

On a hot sunny afternoon, sometimes only a beer will do! Or 2 or 3 possibly!!!

Bitz n' Pizzas is located along the promenade at the 'marlin roundabout'.

The Bill : 1x Large Pizza, 1x Fries, 6 Glass Tiger, 2 Glass Water = 101.15 MYR

Great pizza and ice cold beer, I can think of worse ways to start the weekend!

Fusion Food @ Party Play Lifestyle Cafe - Jalan Gaya

This was our third or possibly fourth visit to this branch of Party Play Lifestyle Cafe, and I can't remember getting into so much of a mess with their double cheese burger before! Haha. It got so bad I had to resort to using a knife & fork, an absolute no-no as far as eating burgers are concerned. My problem, The Little Nibbler informed me, was that I removed the 'pin' from my burger therefor allowing all the different components to slip n slide into an ungrabable mess, which of course, they most certainly did! My shorts and t-shirt are currently swirling around the washing machine in protest! Haha oh well! The burgers are pretty tasty from Party Play and are amongst the best in KK's new found 'real burger' scene. The burger comes packed with double cheese, fried egg, salad and sauces with a heap of tortilla crisps. You also get a side salad which is ok apart from the dressing, in my humble opinion. I wish they'd change the current sesame dressing to, maybe caesar for example, especially for burgers as I find sesame a little too overpowering and doesn't really work with the dish.

Smoked duck tortilla was The Little Nibbler's choice, 2 tortillas sandwiching slices of smoked duck, tomato and cheese, this also comes with side salad and tortilla crisps along with a zingy guacamole. The only complaint being that the tortillas were more like pancakes or possibly roti and not flour tortillas.

A 'happy hour' Tiger beer for me and calamansi for The Nibbler.

Pork Feast @ Mr Ho's Fine Foods - KK Times Square

If you're a pork lover then Mr Ho's Fine Foods should be on your eating itinerary! A fairly new restaurant in KK Times Square, we remembered seeing the signs up before it opened and decided to pop by tonight. There are other items on the menu but pork is their specialty, just take a look inside the glass cabinet as you enter the restaurant! Now I'm not quite as potty about pork as some people I know, I have to admit that I don't really like crackling ( in England this is what we call the crispy pork skin, which is created by cutting the skin and rubbing lots of salt into it). So I opted for the Pork Burger, a delicious juicy patty of minced, seasoned, pork meat with onion, tomato, lettuce and cucumber topped with cheese and a thick slice of bacon, all between a bread bun. It was quite a feat to bite into it as it was that large! Not only that but sides of fries and coleslaw came with this yummy, filling burger, I'll definitely be back for this one!

The Little Nibbler loves crackling so there was no other option but to go for the Crispy Roast Pork with Apple Sauce! This is one of Mr Ho's signature dishes and comes with roughly mashed potatoes and a selection of vegetables in garlic butter. We were two very happy diners indeed!

All washed down with a jug of Happy Hour Tiger.

Mr Ho's occupies a corner lot, there's also a dining area upstairs.

The Bill : 1x Pork Burger, 1x Crispy Roast Pork, 1x Happy Hour Tiger Jug = 101 MYR

Chinese BBQ & Dumplings @ Sunway Chicken - Lido Square Food Court

We love going to Lido Square Food Court in the evening, there's lots of great food to choose from and generally a lively, noisy, fun atmosphere. One of my favourite things to eat here are the fried pork dumplings, absolutely delicious and a perfect match with an ice cold beer!

The Chinese BBQ Rice @ Sunway Chicken rarely disappoints too! Tonight my choice was the savoury, sweet, Char Sui which goes great with the very tasty rice they serve here.

The Little Nibbler loves crispy pork skin so roast pork is a definite favourite pick! Big smiles all round!

Lido Square Food Court is located off Jalan Penampang just before you get to Jalan Lintas.

The amazing Dumpling ladies!

Sunway Chicken serves BBQ with rice or noodles, I think Bak Kut Teh is available too.

Beers provided by the drinks center.

Yummy!

The Bill : 1x Char Siu Rice, 1x Roast Pork Rice, Dumplings, 2x Heineken Set = 37 MYR

Local & Western Food @ Upperstar Cafe @ Bar - Segama

Upperstar seems to have something for everyone, so it's a great place to go to when you just can't decide what you want to eat! Normally for me it's the Chicken Curry but today I thought I'd try something different, the Malaysian Delight. Ok so I know it also includes chicken curry, but hey, I like Upperstar's chicken curry!!! Along with said curry you also get a couple of chicken satay sticks and a chicken wing. I was a little disappointed because on the menu it definitely looks like a portion of nasi goreng is included, but I received plain rice, oh well never mind, it was topped with a sunnyside up which is never a bad thing In my opinion. All in all pretty tasty!

The Little Nibbler had the Lamb Chops, which infact is lamb shoulder but who's quibbling! A generous portion of lamb along with fries, coleslaw and African sauce. Now what makes this sauce African we really don't know, but it has a nice, spicy peppery kick.

All washed down with a couple of Heineken sets!

This branch of Upperstar is located opposite The Hyatt and is open every evening from 16.30 onwards.

The Bill : 1x Malaysian Delight, 1x Lamb Chop, 2x Heineken Set = 65.55 MYR

Something for everyone @ Upperstar!

Western Food @ Chilli Vanilla - Downtown

Back at Chilli Vanilla today for a late lunch/early dinner??? Feeling hungry I ordered the Hungarian Goulash which sounded nice and filling, beef stew with potatoes, Hungarian paprika, handmade pasta and freshly baked bread. Though it tasted fantastic, the beef was so tender from an obvious lengthy cooking time, the portion did little to dent my hunger. More potatoes or thicker chunks of bread are needed to make it a more satisfying meal. Also I couldn't find the handmade pasta only a few pieces of orzo, I think thats what it's called, which is a rice shaped pasta. I must stress though it was very tasty!

The Little Nibbler opted for the Cheesy Chicken Sandwhich, a tasty sandwich of grilled chicken, melted cheese, tatar sauce topped with a sunnyside up. The freshly baked bread is a real hit with the nibbler!
We also took advantage of happy hour and had a leisurely glass or two of house white wine!

The cakes are also really delicious at Chilli Vanilla, the Carrot Cake and Chocolate Brownie took our fancy. The Chocolate Brownie won our Vote!

Chilli Vanilla has nice clean decor and very friendly staff.

The Bill : 1x Hungarian Goulash, 1x Cheesy Chicken, 2x Cake, 4x White Wine = 107.10 MYR

Great food at Chilli Vanilla, they just need to carb that Goulash up! Haha
