Nasi Lemak @ Restoran Sri Rahmat - Segama

A Malaysian breakfast favourite today of nasi lemak from Restoran Sri Rahmat. It's my first time today at this popular, central eatery serving a wide range of Malaysian food. There's quite a few breakfast options with quite possibly the cheapest laksa in town, watch this space people! But today nasi lemak took my fancy, coconut and pandan infused rice served with boiled egg, cucumber slices, tasty sambal, peanuts, ikan bilis, green veggie and a small but very yummy piece of rendang ayam. I left a very happy and satisfied orang, ready to tackle the day!

Restoran Sri Rahmat is located in the Segama shoplots, next door to Texas Grill.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Lemak, 1x Teh Tarik Sejuk = 4.80 MYR

Booze & Pizza @ Bitz n' Pizzas - Marlin Roundabout

It wasn't so long ago that this restaurant was called Luigi Malones, it was open for a short while, then closed, refurbished, and then reopened with the new name of Bitz n' Pizzas. The menu is slightly different but the pizza is the same great taste, so I'm slightly confused about the name change?!? But hey, the pizza's tasty so who cares!

We decided to order a large pepperoni to share, I can only describe the pizza base as unique as I havn't eaten anything like it before, well apart from at Luigi Malones! It's light thin and crispy, just how I like a pizza base, topped with tomato sauce cheese and pepperoni, yummy!

We also ordered a side of fries, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle with a good helping of salt.

On a hot sunny afternoon, sometimes only a beer will do! Or 2 or 3 possibly!!!

Bitz n' Pizzas is located along the promenade at the 'marlin roundabout'.

The Bill : 1x Large Pizza, 1x Fries, 6 Glass Tiger, 2 Glass Water = 101.15 MYR

Great pizza and ice cold beer, I can think of worse ways to start the weekend!

Roti Kobra @ Restoran Maimunah - Segama

Roti Kobra with a twist (well for me anyway) as I had beef curry instead of my usual choice of chicken. I've eaten at this mamak stall before, and looking at the sign I think it's the same owners as Mainumaah Food Corner located at Api - Api Centre, even though the spellings are completely different, the sign is identical!?! Mmmm I wonder! Anyway enough of that, back to the food, the roti was nice and chewy with crispy bits and the sunny side up was perfectly cooked. The beef curry was meaty and had a nicey spicy curry kick! Ah the simple things, I do love roti kobra!

Restoran Maimunah is located at Segama along Jalan Tun Razak.

The Bill : 1x Roti Kobra, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 7 MYR

A great mamak stall in the heart of KK!

Nasi Char Siu @ Wiya Nasi Ayam Dan Kedai Kopi - Downtown

Wiya Nasi Ayam Dan Kedai Kopi maybe more famous for their chicken but today I thought I'd give their char siu a try. Absolutely no complaints from me over this decision! The BBQ pork was lovely and sweet with nice pieces of fat intermingled with the delicious sliced meat. Wiya's legendary 'pyramid rice' was served along side a bowl of soup. I have to say that a fantastic lunch is pretty much guaranteed here!

Wiya Chicken Rice is located downtown on the front side of Segama shoplots.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Char Siu, 1x Chinese Teh Ping = 6.50MYR

Join the throngs of happy diners @ Wiya's!

Nasi Itik @ Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung Chai Kolombong - Downtown

In the evening Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung Chai Kolombong is a very popular place for Bah Kut Teh, namely Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh. In the daytime, it's the roast ducks that have caught my eye, so I thought it was about time I sampled their Nasi Itik. Being a breast man this was my order! Garlic infused rice with added ginger torch bud along with a generous portion of duck came as the set, unfortunatly I think someone forgot my soup! The duck was pretty tasty but a little on the salty side, the rice was interesting with the added torch bud, luckily not too much, as I think its flavour can be very overpowering. Chilli and ginger sauces were available to spice things up a bit. All in all it was a fairly tasty meal, not the best I've had but by no means the worst.

Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung is located along Jalan Pantai on the opposite corner to Ang's Hotel.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Itik, 1x Kitchai Ping = 9.50 MYR

Roasted Meat, noodles and soup by day, Sin Kee Bah Kut Teh by night!

Pizza Pasta @ Luigi Malones - Marlin Roundabout

We've been meaning to try Luigi Malone's for some time now, as we were in the area we decided to pop in for their great value, lunchtime menu.

I picked one of the pasta options, Meatball Spaghetti. Perfectly cooked spaghetti in a tasty tomato sauce. My only grumble would have to be the 'meatballs' I should have looked at the menu more carefully as the meat used was chicken, I would have much preferred beef, but hey, thats my fault! Also the meat wasn't in 'balls' exactly more like a patty cut into squares. But at this price there's no real complaint! The pasta came with lettuce, a piece of bruschetta and a sprinkling of parmesan.

Vegetariana Pizza for The Little Nibbler, no grumbles here at all!!! A lovely thin crust pizza, quite different to any other pizza base we've tasted in KK. Topped with tomatoes, onions and peppers, oh and lets not forget lovely, gooey cheese. "A really fresh tasting pizza" said The Nibbler, happily.

Kitchai Ping and Coke Light for drinks.

There's something for everyone on Luigi's Lunch Menu.

Luigi Malone's is located along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen on the Marlin Roundabout, opposite The Hyatt. The special lunch menu is available everyday of the week, luckily for us, on bank holidays too!

The Bill : 2x Luigi's Lunch = 22 MYR

Luigi's gets my vote for delicious lunchtime pizza!
Already looking forward to my next visit!!!

Local & Western Food @ Upperstar Cafe @ Bar - Segama

Upperstar seems to have something for everyone, so it's a great place to go to when you just can't decide what you want to eat! Normally for me it's the Chicken Curry but today I thought I'd try something different, the Malaysian Delight. Ok so I know it also includes chicken curry, but hey, I like Upperstar's chicken curry!!! Along with said curry you also get a couple of chicken satay sticks and a chicken wing. I was a little disappointed because on the menu it definitely looks like a portion of nasi goreng is included, but I received plain rice, oh well never mind, it was topped with a sunnyside up which is never a bad thing In my opinion. All in all pretty tasty!

The Little Nibbler had the Lamb Chops, which infact is lamb shoulder but who's quibbling! A generous portion of lamb along with fries, coleslaw and African sauce. Now what makes this sauce African we really don't know, but it has a nice, spicy peppery kick.

All washed down with a couple of Heineken sets!

This branch of Upperstar is located opposite The Hyatt and is open every evening from 16.30 onwards.

The Bill : 1x Malaysian Delight, 1x Lamb Chop, 2x Heineken Set = 65.55 MYR

Something for everyone @ Upperstar!

Western Food @ Chilli Vanilla - Downtown

Back at Chilli Vanilla today for a late lunch/early dinner??? Feeling hungry I ordered the Hungarian Goulash which sounded nice and filling, beef stew with potatoes, Hungarian paprika, handmade pasta and freshly baked bread. Though it tasted fantastic, the beef was so tender from an obvious lengthy cooking time, the portion did little to dent my hunger. More potatoes or thicker chunks of bread are needed to make it a more satisfying meal. Also I couldn't find the handmade pasta only a few pieces of orzo, I think thats what it's called, which is a rice shaped pasta. I must stress though it was very tasty!

The Little Nibbler opted for the Cheesy Chicken Sandwhich, a tasty sandwich of grilled chicken, melted cheese, tatar sauce topped with a sunnyside up. The freshly baked bread is a real hit with the nibbler!
We also took advantage of happy hour and had a leisurely glass or two of house white wine!

The cakes are also really delicious at Chilli Vanilla, the Carrot Cake and Chocolate Brownie took our fancy. The Chocolate Brownie won our Vote!

Chilli Vanilla has nice clean decor and very friendly staff.

The Bill : 1x Hungarian Goulash, 1x Cheesy Chicken, 2x Cake, 4x White Wine = 107.10 MYR

Great food at Chilli Vanilla, they just need to carb that Goulash up! Haha

Nasi Ayam @ Wiya Nasi Ayam Dan Kedai Kopi - Downtown

This place needs no introduction to the fine people of KK. Wiya Nasi Ayam Dan Kedai Kopi is a famous Chicken Rice place in the heart of the downtown area, and rightly so. The chicken is smooth and velvety seasoned with soy and served with slices of cucumber. The rice is just excellent and served in a pyramid shape which makes the dish more pleasing to look at, and of course you get a bowl of tasty broth. I also really like the chilli sauce they serve here too!

As I've said Wiya Nasi Ayam is located downtown on the front side of the Segama shop lots. 'Wiya's' also serve Dim Sum until 10.30 in the morning, though I've yet to try it!

The Bill = 1x Nasi Ayam, 1x Chinese Teh Ping = 6.50 MYR

Joining the crowds here at lunch is a decision well made!

Pizza & Pasta @ Little Italy - Downtown

Judging by the evening crowds (and I mean every evening) Little Italy must be everyone's favourite Italian restaurant here in KK. It's definitely my first choice for Pizza.
Today we had an early evening craving for Italian food, so why not take advantage and beat the evening crowds!
I thought I'd try a new topping today and picked Pollo E Funghi which is marinated chicken with mushrooms. The chicken was plentiful and had a smokey, bbq taste along with fresh mushrooms and their wonderful tomato sauce, topped with chewy mozzarella cheese. The base is very important to me when it comes to pizza and Little Italy do a superb job with their thin and crispy base.

The Little Nibbler loves their Lasagne All Emiliana so this was todays selection. I was lucky enough to try this and it was delicious. Pasta sheets with a rich, minced beef sauce, lots of cheese and again that garlicky tomato sauce. Yum-yum!

Another favourite pick is the homemade lemonade, truly a refreshing drink on a hot sunny day or a hot and humid night!

Little Italy is located downtown below Capital Hotel and directly across the road from Wisma Merdeka.

Tasty!

Refreshing!

The Bill : 1x Large Pizza, 1x Lasagne, 2x Large Lemonade = 83.15 MYR

If you love great Pizza, Pasta and a lively, buzzing atmosphere head down to Little Italy any night of the week!
