Wan Ton Ho @ Restoran Hui Chow - Taman Fortuna

There always seems to be a crowd outside Restoran Hui Chow, so today I thought I'd join them! There's nasi campur available, but pork in its various forms, with noodles seems to be the peoples choice. After yesterdays pork extravaganza I thought I'd give it a miss, well this isn't entirely true as I asked after their 5 spiced wild boar only to be told 'sudah habis' so I decided upon seafood wan ton ho. At first glance I thought the dish seemed a bit watery but with my first mouthful all doubts had vanished. Keow teow noodles stir fried then doused with savoury egg gravy, chunks of fresh fish, prawns and green veggie, I do love a good wan tan ho!

Restoran Hui Chow is located in Taman Fortuna along Jalan Penampang, just look out for the crowds.

I'll be back for that wild boar for sure!

Wan Ton Ho @ Restoran Beaufort - Kampong Air

I've been meaning to try Restoran Beaufort at its new location for some time now, as this is one of my favourite eateries I was rather upset to see it closed down following the devastating fire at the tyre garage next door. Luckily all's well and the food is just as delicious at its new location at Kampong Air.
I have to say it was a tough choice this morning, whether to go for their signature Beaufort noodles or another favourite of mine, wan ton ho. Well the eggy noodles with pork won the vote and what can I say but, deeeeelcious! The rice noodles were loaded as ever with pork, veggies and egg sauce with the added kick of chilli sauce, applied by me!

The fire damaged restaurant and the totally gutted tyre garage. Looks to me like they will probably have to pull the whole block down!

Restoran Beaufort is now located at the Ruby Hotel, Kampong Air.

The location may have changed but the food is just as amazing @ Restoran Beaufort!

Wan Tan Ho @ Alu Alu Cafe - Jesselton Point

It must have been last week that I noticed the sign outside of Alu Alu Cafe boasting 'Best Wan Tan Ho in KK'. Now I've not eaten every Wan Tan Ho in KK, nowhere near, but I'd definitely like to eat the best! We were advised to share one dish, which was good advice as it was a fairly large portion. The dish comprised of stir fried rice noodles in an egg sauce with fresh fish slices and vegetables. Taste wise it was very good, the noodles had that savoury, hot wok taste and the large fish slices were nice and meaty. The big question though, was it the best? Well, I'm not sure about that, but what I can tell you is that ethically it probably is! All the fish served at Alu Alu Cafe is from sustainable farmed sources, and not plucked from the depleting fish reserves of our seas!

One of the information boards that adorn the walls of Alu Alu Cafe. Interesting reading and very alarming. There's also information regarding where the fish that you're eating inside the cafe originates - all from sustainable farmed organic sources, namely a fish farm in Tuaran.

Alu Alu Cafe is not only at the 5star resorts, you can now also find it at Jesselton Point.

Plenty of tasty fish dishes that are not damaging our fragile seas!
