Tandoori Chicken @ Khan's Islamic Restaurant - Jalan Maju

I love food cooked in the Tandoor so I was very happy when I stumbled across Khan's Islamic Restaurant, in Miri, serving tandoori chicken and naan aswell as an array of boneless curry dishes. My first choice was shish kebabs but unfortunately this wasn't available so instead I opted for tandoori chicken breast with added garlic naan. Chicken breast marinated in tandoori spices with yoghurt keeps the meat nice and juicy, this was served with a simple salad of cucumber and onion along with garlic naan and a serving of spicy curry gravy, delicious!

Laksa @ Sing Wang Kopitiam - Waterfront

The laksa from Sing Wang Kopitiam looked pretty impressive when it landed on my table, loaded high with ingredients! Though for my taste I had to remove the vast majority of the daun sup. Standard ingredients of chicken, omelette, prawn, beansprouts aswell as beancurd puffs were plentiful, the broth however was very mild, luckily this is were the sambal came into its own and the more I added the more I enjoyed this bowl of laksa!
 

Sing Wang Kopitiam is located in Miri's Waterfront area.

Mouy Burger @ Burger LAH! Cafe - Centrepoint 2

It seems it's not just KK in the middle of a homemade burger revolution, Miri is getting in on the action too! Thanks to Burger LAH! Cafe, a 'young' funky cafe offering delicious homemade burgers aswell as pizza, pasta, pittas and wraps. Australian imported beef is used in the juicy homemade patties, I opted for the Mouy Burger that comes packed with salad, gherkins, cheese, relish and dijon mayo, it sure hit the spot!

Fried Radish Cake @ King Wood Cafe - Pelita Commercial Centre

Here's a dish that instantly caught my eye, Fried Radish Cake. This hawker delight amongst many others are available at the crowded King Wood Cafe. Now I'm not exactly sure of the ingredients but I can tell you it tasted simply delicious! I believe there were possibly some minced shrimp and pork amongst the mix along with egg, beansprouts, Chinese chive, and of course radish cake, the little crunchy burnt bits tasted awesome and it had a nice spicy kick too!

King Wood Cafe is located in Pelita Commercial Centre which is located a little out of Miri city center.

Satay @ Madli's Restaurant - Jalan Merpati

I ate here at Midli's Restaurant last time I was in Miri and everyone there seemed to be eating satay, well the old saying goes, if you can't beat 'em join 'em! And that's exactly what I did, then and now! With many choices available regarding satay, I opted for the dinner plate which comprises of 12 satay sticks, 6 chicken and 6 beef, ketupat (compressed rice), cucumber slices, onion chunks and not forgetting the savoury, peanut satay sauce. The satay is of the meaty variety, no skimping here, the beef deserves a special mention as it's imported and was very tasty indeed with hints of lemon grass coming through with the marination process, yummy!

 

Madli's Restaurant is located along Jalan Merpati, more or less opposite Imperial Mall.
