Baka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Tanjung Aru Plaza

We chose a smaller Bazaar Ramadan today located at Tanjung Aru Plaza, set up behind the hawker centre. There's not so much choice as some of the other Bazaars but there's definitely some great tasting food to be sampled.
This stall caught our eye straight away as Nasi Kuning was one of our favourite breakfasts in Indonesia on a previous visit to Kalimantan.

Smiley Happy People!

Here's my pick with Chicken Curry and Fried Egg.

The Little Nibbler's pick, Aubergine and Tempe.

Here's some Beef Rendang that looked rather good.

This fine, friendly gentleman we remembered from last year when we sampled his Singapore Sugar Banana, this year we went savoury with Popia and Prawn Fritters.

Great tasting Nasi Kuning infused with coconut and turmeric, the Chicken Curry was nice and spicy though I have to say pieces of chicken neck are most definitely not my favourite part of the bird!!! Haha, but each to his own! The sambal was simply delicious, not blow your head off hot but almost fruity. Yum Yum!

The Nibbler's choice of Aubergine and Tempe prompted the quote 'This has been my favourite Ramadan meal so far!'

The Beef Rendang was pretty tasty too, though some of the meat was a little on the tough side.

If only we could have had these straight out of the fryer! As I'm sure you'll agree fried treats taste better when fresh and hot!

Our Feast!

The Bill : 2x Nasi Kuning, 1x Beef Rendang, 2x Popia, 2x Prawn Fritter = 17 MYR

Not the greatest variety, but the greatest food, says The Nibbler!

Buka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Asia City

Asia City was todays destination to sample some of the delights at the Bazaar Ramadan. We came earlier today as two days previously we arrived too late and most of the food had been snapped up!

The Little Nibbler spotted this stall selling fantastic looking BBQ Chicken, Ayam Percik to give this dish it's proper name!

Looks delicious!

The crowds and interesting looking food caught my eye at this stall, 'Traditional local food' I was told.

Nasi Dagang.

Not sure what this is called I was just told Beef!

This was my pick.

The Nibbler liked the look of this Chicken Rendang.

The Ayam Percik was simply delicious with its rich coconut sauce. After some 'Googling' I've since found out that the chicken is first marinated, then cooked in a coconut/tamarind based sauce and then grilled over coals! Wow no wonder it tasted so good!

The Nibbler's Chicken Rendang came with Nasi Biryani, Veg Curry, Achar and Poppadoms. The Biryani was nothing special but the Rendang was pretty tasty.

I really enjoyed my first Nasi Dagang, a sticky rice infused with coconut. The 'beef' was on the tough side, but the sauce was wonderful and rich with coconut. Looking at the sign on their stall, I think they are located somewhere in Asia City, so watch this space for a future review.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Biryani, 1x Nasi Dagang, 1x Ayam Percik = 19 MYR

Bazaar Ramadan @ Asia City is yet another gastronomical adventure!

Buka Puasa @ Bazaar Ramadan - Jalan Gaya

Yesterday I made the mistake of arriving at a Bazaar Ramadan too late, most of the food was gone! Today I wasn't going to make the same mistake! There's amazing food around KK during the month of Ramadan, one of my favourites is Nasi Biryani, and it's great to be able to choose from a few different stalls all conveniently located in one place!

This lady's huge pot of Biryani really caught my eye along with some very tasty looking Chicken Curry. I'm pleased to report that the food didn't disappoint, it was a pure delight, the rice was nice and fragrant and the curry had a lovely spicy kick.

Looks good to me!

Arabian Foods.

This lady's small stall also caught my eye with some interesting looking Chicken Kebabs, they reminded me in looks of a type of Tandoori Lamb Kebab (I forget the name now) that I've eaten in Indian Restaurants back home. Actually all her food looked great and I was tempted to try her Biryani too, but unfortunately I came to my senses and realised that one portion of rice was probably enough!!!

Tasty looking Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Kebab.

Chicken Kebab.

For foodies like me the holy month of Ramadan is a gastronomic delight, the question is which Bazaar Ramadan should I go to next?
