Nasi Lemak @ Nasi Lemak & Satay - Suria Sabah

Often cited as Malaysia's national dish, nasi lemak is traditionally eaten at breakfast, though it can most definitely be enjoyed any time of the day. A basic nasi lemak consists of coconut steamed rice with pandan, boiled egg, cucumber, ikan bilis, peanuts and sambal, great on its own and even better with added beef rendang, as I had here at Nasi Lemak & Satay.
Where do you eat your nasi lemak and who serves the best beef rendang? Leave a comment and let me know!

Selection of add on items for your nasi lemak.

Nasi Lemak & Satay is located in Suria Sabah's Food Court on the 3rd floor.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Lemak, 1x Ice Milo = 8.70 MYR

Nasi lemak enjoyed all day @ Suria Food Court.

Western & Local Food @ Table No.1 - Tanjung Aru

Another great new restaurant, Table No.1 At Tanjung Aru. We kept a close eye on this place when it was being renovated from a bright yellow house to what you see today, a brilliant, bright white restaurant! I also wondered, what kind of food would it serve? I must say that from the sign outside it seems quite confused, pasta, nasi lemak and grills?!? But from looking at the menu, seeing other peoples food come out and finally eating the food, there's nothing confusing about it at all! With local and western food on offer there's plenty of choice but not so much that it's overwhelming and leaves you wondering how on earth could they cook so many dishes and do them justice too!
There were quite a few dishes that caught my eye, I now have at least five reasons to go back, but it was the Rendang Oxtail Platter that got my vote. A fantastic tasting, spicy rendang with a generous portion of oxtail that just fell off the bone, this was served with rice, egg omelette, a spicy almost pickled salad of vegetables and crackers, simply delicious!

The Little Nibbler went western choosing Crispy Skin Salmon with Pesto. Perfectly cooked salmon on top of an assortment of sauteed vegetables with a creamy pesto sauce. Yummy! Thumbs up all round! Its well worth mentioning that the dishes are presented really nicely too, good job Table No.1!

Table No.1 is located at Tanjung Aru, heading down to First Beach and next door to Perdana Park.

As we didn't feel dressed for the occasion we decided to sit outside at one of their candlelit tables. The inside dining area looks lovely with bright white interiors and soft furnishings with different seating arrangements, really quite stylish!

The Bill : 1x Rendang Oxtail, 1x Salmon, 1x Coke Light, 1x Ice Lemon Tea = 84.70 MYR

See you in the not so distant future, Table No.1!

Chicken Rendang @ Sinario Cafe & Catering - Bandaran Berjaya

Wow! What a great lunch I had today at Sinario Cafe & Catering. I'm no stranger to Sinario's, normally going in for their Indian menu of curries, naan breads and tandoori (watch this space for future reviews). Today, however, I thought I'd try something off their 'Express Lunch Menu' which I've seen advertised around the place on previous visits. With four options to choose from Rendang Chicken won my vote, I'm very pleased it did.
I loved every part of this meal! From the garlic infused rice which was slightly yellow in colour, pickled vegetables with pineapple which I think is called Achar, to the star of the show, Rendang Chicken. I've discovered I really don't eat enough Rendang. When done well, this is an amazingly tasty dish with all the fine flavours that Asia has to offer, truly awesome! And in my opinion Sinario's do it very well indeed!
If anyone out there can recommend more places to try Rendang feel free to leave a comment, where's your favourite?

The Express Lunch Menu Promotion has four dishes to choose from all priced at 6.50 MYR available from 11.00 - 14.00.

Sinario Cafe & Catering is located just behind Marrybrown's Bandaran Berjaya branch, easily visible from the large Bulatan Capitol roundabout.

The Bill : Rendang Chicken, Teh Tarik Ping = 9 MYR

Sinario's specializes in North Indian and Malay food they also have a Western menu too. I knew their Indian food was tasty and now I've got another fine reason to visit!
