Nasi Goreng Mamak @ Mydin Curry House - Api - Api Centre

Mydin Curry House offers an array of tasty curries, vegetable dishes and biriani as well as a la carte items. I fancied something filling today so opted for a plate of nasi goreng, mamak style. You get a large portion of spicy rice fried with egg, tomato, veggies and chicken. Nothing too much to shout about just simple and satisfying.

Mydin Curry House is located in the Api - Api Centre.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Goreng Mamak, 1x Teh Tarik Sejuk = 5.50 MYR

You can fill your belly @ Mydin Curry House!

Hawker Food & Drinks @ Taman Tun Fuad Stephens - Bukit Padang

When the hunger pangs struck, as luck would have it, we weren't too far away from food. Then again are you ever in KK??? A few short minutes later we pulled up at Taman Tun Fuad Stephens and headed for the small outside hawker centre located in the car park. Drinks were ordered first from Ah Yap ABC where there's a whole array of cooling delicious drinks to choose from, for a change I ordered the magic chocolate shake, my usual is the ais cendol which is very good indeed, not that there were any complaints about the shake. Slurpalicious!!!

I ordered the nasi goreng which comes with a whole heap of ingredients, pork, sausage, chicken, fish cake slice and egg, stir fried in a hot smoking wok. For me though nothing beats the mee goreng here, a must try dish in my opinion!

The Little Nibbler loves porky noodles and opted for the gon lau mee, not the best in her opinion but a satisfying noodle dish all the same.

A very delicious and chocolatey Magic Chocolate Shake from Ah Yap ABC, along with a bottle of water.

Ah Ling & Ah Yap located side by side at Taman Tun Fuad Stephens.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Goreng, 1x Gon Lau Mee, 1x Chocolate Shake, 1x Water = 14 MYR

If cheap, tasty and satisfying are important to you, then you can do a lot worse then head on down to Tun Fuad Stephens Park at Bukit Padang.

Chinese Food & New Diamond Restoran - Foh Sang

New Diamond Restoran is a deservedly popular chinese restaurant, it's usually packed to the rafters most evenings! Every time I've eaten here the food has been superb, tonight was no exception. First up, I picked Yung Chow fried rice, mixed veg, egg and pork, fried with rice. At last a fried rice worth eating! No stodgy rice here, fried rice as fried rice should be!!!

The Little Nibbler picked Hokkien noodles, thick noodles drenched in a savoury sauce with pork and cabbage. These noodles got the seal of approval all round!

Next up we had Sayur Manis fried with egg which is fast becoming a firm favourite with us. This was ok, not quite as good as some others we've had, no complaints really.

Pickles and peanuts along with a pot of chinese tea appear on your table as your seated, the first time I came here I thought they were free, but no such luck! Haha. The same can be said for the wet towels that magically appear stealth like from nowhere!!!

Diamond is located next door to Pick N Pay in Foh Sang.

The Bill : 1x Yung Chow Fried Rice, 1x Hokkien Noodles, 1x Sayur Manis, 1x Pickles/Peanuts, 1x Pot Chinese Tea, 2x Wet Towel = 25.80 MYR

Diamond is fantastic!!!

Nasi Goreng Ayam @ Mamutik Cafe - Pulau Mamutik

Being such a staple dish in Malaysia it really does amaze me at how poor Nasi Goreng can be at times, unfortunately for me, this was one of those times! If quantity over quality matters then this could be the dish for you, as the portion was huge, also there was plenty of chicken breast in it, which was possibly the only plus point. The rice was stodgy, greasy and had the obligatory frozen veg in it, not very nice at all!

Pulau Mamutik in the distance.

Mamutik Cafe is open everyday from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon.

View from the cafe.

Beautiful beach and sea at Mamutik.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Goreng Ayam, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 11 MYR

My tip is skip the Nasi Goreng and order something with plain rice instead or of course you could blow the budget and join the beach buffet crowd.

Chinese Food @ Ang's - Downtown

You know just by looking at the crowds inside and out, that Ang's is just going to be good, and it is! It rarely disappoints, though tonight there was one grumble, but more of that later. My pick tonight was the Sweet and Sour Fish Slice, delicious. Meaty slices of fish with a tangy sweet and sour sauce with onions and pineapple.

The Little Nibbler opted for Braised Beancurd with Minced Meat, this came in a thick, savoury sauce with mushrooms and chinese chives, really tasty. There's also a choice between local beancurd and Japanese, this is the local variety.

This was the only let down of the night, the fried rice was way too stodgy, possibly from not letting the rice cool down enough before stir frying. Only cold rice will produce a good fried rice!

Ang's is open and busy, lunch and dinner! Located Downtown on the same block as Little Italy.

The Bill : 1x Sweet And Sour Fish, 1x Braised Beancurd, 1x Fried Rice, 2x Chinese Teh Ping = 28 MYR

You may have to wait, but it's worth it!

Mee Goreng Singapore @ Lot No.10 - Tanjung Aru Hawker Centre

Mee Goreng Singapore is a spicy, fried, mixed seafood, noodle dish. The flavour was curry like with prawns, squid, fish cake slice, fish ball slice and some green veggie. It tasted ok, nothing to get too exited about really.

The Little Nibbler opted for Nasi Goreng USA. We tried relating this concoction to America but drew a blank! Fried rice was served with beef in a spicy tomato sauce with red chilli, topped with a fried egg. Again taste wise it was ok.

The Satay was a little disappointing, quite tough and really dry. Peanut sauce was good though, my advice would be to choose your own satay and not just order from the food vendor. Satay Street as I like to call it is located along the far side of the hawker centre.

Tanjung Aru Hawker Centre is located at First Beach just opposite Waikiki Condo, opens every evening with a few of the stalls open during the day.
Not quite sure of the protocol at this hawker centre as we ordered our food from a menu that had No.11 Penang Seafood on it but our  food came from No.10. One of lifes little mysteries!

The Bill : 1x Mee Goreng Singapore, 1x Nasi Goreng USA, 10x  Sate sticks = 17 MYR

I have to say that from my experience the overall standard of food at this hawker centre isn't great. Which I don't really understand as the quality of food around KK is normally quite high! Maybe I'm just ordering the wrong dish from the wrong stall, if anyone has any favourites and can point me in the right direction, let me know.
