Murtabak Ayam @ Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point

I've never been a big fan of murtabak, when I've eaten them before at night markets or hawker stalls they've always been too greasy and oily, not so at Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran I'm pleased to say, so now I can enjoy this Malaysian favourite too! For those that don't know murtabak is made from the ever versatile roti, stuffed with egg, vegetables and your choice of meat. It's very filling, so The Little Nibbler and I shared ayam murtabak for an early tea time snack. Curry sauce is served as a side so you can dip the murtabak for a nice spicy kick!

Roti Cobra @ Kedai Mekan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point

Is there anything more comforting than a Roti Cobra? I think not!!! Since coming to KK this has to be my favourite 'fast food' enjoyed anytime of the day. The roti from Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran don't come much better in my opinion, and this is possibly my favourite place to eat in Centre Point's Food Court. For the uninitiated (which I was when I arrived) Roti Cobra is quite simply a roti topped with either chicken or kambing curry and a fried egg, simple yet delicious! The chicken curry was especially good today as the meat just fell off the bone.
 

The food court's had a refurb recently with a new floor and bright, colourful tables and chairs.

Chicken Rice @ Plus One Raihan Chicken Rice - Centre Point

Centre Point's Food Court is a great place to grab a bargain lunch and Plus One Raihnan Chicken Rice is probably the best bargain to be had in the whole place, and quite possibly in the whole of KK for that matter! For 2.70 MYR you get a good portion of tasty rice and chicken, sweet chilli sambal and soup. There's no plates here but who cares at this price who can complain! Not me that's for sure!!! I've paid a lot more for a lot less, not just in quantity but in quality of taste too!

Located in the basement of Centre Point, there's no missing the crowds here.

Roti Cobra @ Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point Food Court

Back again to Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran, this time for my favourite pick, Roti Cobra. This is the place where I first had this dish and I've probably been coming back once a week since then to savour it's simple yet delicious brilliance! A well cooked roti (they don't come much better than here) topped with a fried egg then topped with chicken curry - brilliant! I like to have mine with a sweet Teh Tarik.

Mee Goreng Mamak @ Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point

A very generous portion of Mee Goreng Mamak with Chicken. Noodles come stir fried with spices, chilli, tomato, cabbage, green veg, egg, tofu and boneless chicken breast served with calamansi to squeeze over plus a small bowl of soup. For me the noodles could have been a little spicier there is however chilli sauce on the table to add as required.

Nasi Campur @ Liew Chai Vegetarian - Centre Point

A Nasi Campur that I know I'm not going to find any hidden 'extra parts' simply because it's all vegetarian!
Liew Chai Vegetarian is probably my second favourite place to eat at Centre Point's Food Court. With lots of curries, stir fries, and tofu dishes to choose from there's definitely no chance of accidently stumbling across, say liver, yuk yuk yuk!

Today's pick was a bit of a green bean feast! Stir fried green beans with some kind of mock meat, a really tasty omelette with sliced green beans and a wonderful creamy coconut curry of fried beancurd puffs and you guessed it, green beans! All on top of nasi putih alongside a small bowl of vegetable broth, washed down with chinese teh ping.

Liew Chai Vegetarian is located in Centre Point's basement Food Court occupying a corner lot near the middle.

In England great food and shopping malls are two things that don't go hand in hand. Not so, here in Malaysia and KK, it's often where some of the tastiest food is found at an affordable price. If veggies are your thing head to Liew Chai and fill your boots!

Nasi Campur @ Super Faezah Cafeteria - Centre Point

Nasi Campur for me is like the Malaysian Russian Roulette of makan, sometimes you just don't know what you're going to get. Even though there's often vigorous pointing "Ayam ayam, ikan ikan" by a friendly smiling server it's still quite often a mystery. Is there going to be dried fish hidden in the veggies? Is that nice looking piece of meat going to turn out to be liver? Oh no I hope not! I guess this is where local tastes and mine differ.

But saying that Nasi Campur offers a fantastic range of great tasting food from meat to vegetables, seafood to salads cooked in a multitude of styles. Its a great way to sample many of Malaysia's awesome tasting food, at a very reasonable price. All you have to do is help yourself or point, I love it.

Super Faezah's Nasi Campur is huge, it has lots and lots to choose from and many people do, its always packed at lunchtime which is never a bad sign.

I have to say, its not one of my favourites though, local people love it and I'm not going to argue with the tastebuds of people from KK, but for me its not the best. Maybe Im just picking the wrong dish, I'll just have to go back and keep trying.

For todays pick I had the obligatory nasi putih, omelette, green veggies and chicken. 

The omelette was plain but very tasty, not too sure what the green veggies are called but they were stir fried with carrot and egg and tasted ok, I always like to pick at least one portion of greens, as it makes me feel like I'm being healthy! At first glance I thought the chicken was in a sweet and sour sauce but when I tasted it, it also had a real kick of chilli, fab, just what I like. The chicken however was tough, at one point I feared for my fellow diners, as I wrestled to get some of the meat off with my spoon and fork thinking at any moment it would fly off my plate and hit someone in the eye! Thankfully it didn't and everyone went home unscathed.

Super Faezah Cafeteria is located in Centre Point's Food Court on the basement floor, you cant miss it for the crowds jostling for a place around the food and the bright light neon signs.

With so much choice at Super Fraezah Cafeteria and other food outlets, Centre Point's Food Court is well worth a visit any mid morning, lunch or afternoon.
