Thai Food @ Pandan Thai Delight - Rainforest World Music Festival

I love Thai food, one of my favourite things to eat in Thailand is BBQ Chicken and Papaya Salad served at a roadside stall or mobile hawker. So when I spotted Pandan Thai Delight selling said delights I decided I shouldn't miss the opportunity! The Chicken was nice and juicy with a smoky flavour from the BBQ coals.

Next up was the Papaya Salad which is called Som Tam in Thailand and WOW was it spicy! Just as I remember! Shredded green papaya mixed with chilli, fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, garlic, tomato and topped with peanuts. This is the taste of Thailand, hot, sweet and sour!

Som Tam man doing his thing!

As the stall was called Thai Pandan Delight we thought we should try the Pandan Chicken which is another favourite of ours. Marinated chicken wrapped in pandan leaf and deep fried, yummy!

As well as their presence at the music festival Pandan Thai Delight can be found in Kuching.

Signature Steak Pie @ John's Pie - Rainforest World Music Festival

Now here's something I didn't expect to see, let alone eat at a World Music Festival in Borneo - Meat Pies! Let me tell you John's Pies are up there with the best! These are as good as any I've eaten in England - and I've eaten a fair few! They were so good a had two over the weekend, great eaten with an ice cold Heineken! This was the Signature Steak Pie, lovely chunks of steak in a black pepper gravy. One important factor of a great pie is the amount of filling inside and these pies did not disappoint, absolutely full to the brim with meaty goodness!

The other pie I tried, not shown here was the Lamb and Cheese, quite a strange combination I thought, but once tasted all my apprehensions floated away. A truly tasty pie with lovely hints of oregano.

I do hope John's Pies come too KK so we can all experience that meaty goodness!!!

Roti Kosong @ Manns Canai - Rainforest World Music Festival

I love Roti! Roti for breakfast is a wonderfully Malaysian way to start the day and I love it, there I said it again!!! The Roti at Manns Canai, set up next to Restaurant Budaya for the festival, was awesome not only were the Roti's crispy, flaky and chewy but the dahl served as an accompaniment was thick and spicy almost like a curry, delicious!

Beautiful ceiling inside Restaurant Budaya.

Stunning views, what an amazing place to hold a music festival.

Does Manns Canai exist outside of festival world??? Do you know? Let me know!

Burger @ Koiesz Homemade Grill Burger - Rainforest World Music Festival

After maybe a few too many Heinekens the night before the Nibbler had an urge to eat burger for breakfast!!! I'm sure we've all been there, I know I have! So we made our way to Koiesz Homemade Grill Burger, as the night before there were huge crowds around the place and the word 'homemade', made The Little Nibbler hopeful of a great burger. With lots to choose from, a Lamb with added Cheese and Egg was ordered. On first inspection the burger, as a whole, looked the part but unfortunately the burger itself was very lacking. If this was a homemade burger as suggested then a lot of cereal or other bulking product was used in the lamb patty as it tasted like a mass produced burger. Such a disappointment! For us a 'homemade' burger should be 100% meat or at least very close to that mark! Meaty, juicy and tasty! The salad, sauces, cheese, egg and bun were all fine, well quite tasty really.

Burger flipper!

See below, the reason for this mornings craving!!!

We all know festival burgers can be a bit dodgy! Koiesz must try harder!

Drinks @ KopieSatu - Rainforest World Music Festival

What an absolutely fantastic weekend we had at the Rainforest World Music Festival held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Kuching. Such an amazing venue for a wonderfully friendly festival, filled with live music, workshops, crafts, culture, food and drink. I'd really like to thank the organisers, performing artists and fun loving spectators for a truly memorable event.

As it was a bit early in the day to start on the Heineken and the sun was high in the sky we decided on a nice, cold, ice blended drink instead. The drinks on offer at KopieSatu were excellent and did a great job of cooling us down, as well as quenching our thirst! As I'm not really a coffee drinker I opted for the Ice Blended Chocolate, it tasted great and very chocolatey with a nice swirl of cream on top!

The Little Nibbler opted for the old favourite Ice Blended Cappuccino which I was assured was very good indeed!

Lovely view over the lake.

These guys serve delicious drinks, they must have a coffee shop somewhere??? Give them a Google!
