Murtabak Ayam @ Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point

I've never been a big fan of murtabak, when I've eaten them before at night markets or hawker stalls they've always been too greasy and oily, not so at Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran I'm pleased to say, so now I can enjoy this Malaysian favourite too! For those that don't know murtabak is made from the ever versatile roti, stuffed with egg, vegetables and your choice of meat. It's very filling, so The Little Nibbler and I shared ayam murtabak for an early tea time snack. Curry sauce is served as a side so you can dip the murtabak for a nice spicy kick!

Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran is located in Centre Point's basement food court and is quite a regular haunt of mine!

The Bill : 1x Murtabak Ayam, 1x Teh Tarik, 1x Kopi C Ping = 9.70 MYR

Now I can enjoy murtabak too thanks to Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran!

Roti Prata @ Restoran Salim - Lintas Plaza

Restoran Salim is one of our favourite mamak stalls, The Little Nibbler says they do the best rotis in KK! So when we popped in for a snack, their new menu of roti prata immediately caught our eye. Two well cooked rotis served with a spicy, chickpea, coconut curry, perfect for a snack or light meal.

Teh tarik comes layered @ Salim's.

Restoran Salim is well located in Lintas Plaza.

The Bill : 2x Roti Prata, 1x Teh Tarik Ping, 1x Chinese Teh Ping = 8 MYR

Roti Cobra @ Kedai Mekan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point

Is there anything more comforting than a Roti Cobra? I think not!!! Since coming to KK this has to be my favourite 'fast food' enjoyed anytime of the day. The roti from Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran don't come much better in my opinion, and this is possibly my favourite place to eat in Centre Point's Food Court. For the uninitiated (which I was when I arrived) Roti Cobra is quite simply a roti topped with either chicken or kambing curry and a fried egg, simple yet delicious! The chicken curry was especially good today as the meat just fell off the bone.

The food court's had a refurb recently with a new floor and bright, colourful tables and chairs.

The Bill : 1x Roti Cobra, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 6.70 MYR

Roti Kobra @ Kolombong Fish Head Curry & Caffe - Api - Api Centre

As I'm not brave enough to eat Fish Head Curry, I'd previously visited Kolombong Fish Head Curry & Caffe for their Fish Slice Curry and Biryani, which I have to say was delicious! Not feeling so hungry today I noticed that they do one of my favourite dishes here in KK, Roti Kobra, so I thought I'd give it a try. I normally have this dish at Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran, located in Centre Point, so the first thing I noticed, was that they place the roti on top! Here they serve the dish with chicken curry on the bottom, then the fried egg, topped with the roti, controversial I say! But hey, when food tastes this good who cares? The chicken curry was nice and spicy, the egg, nice and runny and the roti, crispy and chewy, perfect! I'll be popping back again for this!

Kolombong Fish Head Curry & Caffe is located at the end of Api - Api Centre closest to Warisan Plaza.

The Bill : 1x Roti Kobra, 1x Teh Tarik Ping = 6.50 MYR

Loving the Roti Cobra @ Kolombong Fish Head Curry, their Biryani is excellent too!

Nasi Lalapan @ Kuching Station - Kuching

After doing a bit of internet research I've found out that Nasi Lalapan is a dish that originates from Indonesia, I've also found out that Tenggiri is also known as Spanish Mackerel and is found in Malaysian waters.
So this is what The Little Nibbler picked at Kuching Station, a restaurant specializing in Nasi Lalapan, Lalapan Tenggiri! I have to say that neither of us were overly impressed with this dish, firstly because the fish had been deep fried within an inch of it's life and secondly because it was quite bony! The restaurant was always quite full so I guess it just wasn't to our taste! The fish came with blanched, green beans and a green veggie also with slices of cucumber and a spicy dipping sambal. The dish was served with Nasi Putih.

As I was feeling less adventurous today I had Roti with Chicken Curry. The roti's were just ok, the curry was slightly better but nothing special.

Teh Tarik and Ice Lemon Tea.

Kuching Station is located on Jalan Green Hill opposite The Pullman Hotel.

I'm sure the Lalapan was really good!

The Bill : 1x Lalapan Tenggiri, 2x Roti, 1x Chicken Curry, 1x Teh Tarik, 1x Ice Lemon Tea = 20.30MYR

If you like the taste of Nasi Lalapan head on down to Kuching Station, the locals seem to like it!!!

Roti Kosong @ Manns Canai - Rainforest World Music Festival

I love Roti! Roti for breakfast is a wonderfully Malaysian way to start the day and I love it, there I said it again!!! The Roti at Manns Canai, set up next to Restaurant Budaya for the festival, was awesome not only were the Roti's crispy, flaky and chewy but the dahl served as an accompaniment was thick and spicy almost like a curry, delicious!

Beautiful ceiling inside Restaurant Budaya.

Stunning views, what an amazing place to hold a music festival.

The Bill : Roti Kosong = 2 MYR

Does Manns Canai exist outside of festival world??? Do you know? Let me know!

Roti Cobra @ Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran - Centre Point Food Court

Back again to Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran, this time for my favourite pick, Roti Cobra. This is the place where I first had this dish and I've probably been coming back once a week since then to savour it's simple yet delicious brilliance! A well cooked roti (they don't come much better than here) topped with a fried egg then topped with chicken curry - brilliant! I like to have mine with a sweet Teh Tarik.

Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran is located in Centre Point's Food Court, near the Maybank ATM.

The Bill : Roti Cobra, Teh Tarik = 6.20 MYR

I love Roti Cobra!

Roti Cobra @ Islamic Restaurant & Hotel - Kampong Air

Another one of my all time favourite meals in KK! Roti Cobra.
Sometimes simple is best, take a well cooked roti, top with a fried egg then cover with curry of your choice, in my case ayam (chicken), so wonderfully simple! It may not look too appetising but trust me, looks are definitely deceiving as this tastes fab and hits the spot anytime of the day.

The Little Nibbler opted for kambing (goat).

Teh Tarik Ping and Kopi C Ping for drinks.

Islamic Restaurant is open all day long and in the evening too, not quite sure when it closes. This branch is located in Kampong Air opposite Maybank there's also another branch in Centre Point.

The Bill : 2x Roti Cobra, 1x Teh Tarik Ping, 1x Kopi C Ping = 16MYR

Both branches of Islamic Restaurant are among my favourites in KK, with great tasting Roti's, Nasi Campur, and Biryani you really cant go wrong.
Roti Cobra is so good it's hard to resist ordering two!
