After a mornings walking around the famous shopping streets of Harajuku, namely Takeshita-dori, Cat Street and Omote-sando-dori it was definitely time for a well deserved lunch break! So heading back towards Harajuku Station we spotted this place and decided to give it a go! It wasn't until we entered and looked at the menu that we discovered it was actually a Chinese restaurant and not a Japanese one, as we expected. Looking around at the food on the tables we decided to stay put, as it all looked very good indeed! We both opted for the Special Chinese Chilled Noodles with a variety of ingredients??? Mmmm very interesting! My option came with a vinegar and soy sauce dressing and The Little Nibbler's with a spicy sesame sauce. Both dishes looked identical the only difference was the taste, both very tasty but I have to concede that The Nibbler, won the lunches! As the spicy sesame sauce was just that little bit tastier than mine! The chilled noodles came with chicken, spring onion, cucumber slices, tomato and salad leaves. A lovely light and refreshing lunch.
Mensaika Hokuto is located opposite Harajuku Station and literally just around the corner from Takeshita-dori.
Luckily for us a full English menu was available, which also gave us the name of the restaurant!
Open Kitchen.
The Bill : 2x Chilled Noodles, 2x Draught Beer = 2750 ¥
A deliciously, light Chinese lunch with a bit of added Japanese flair!
