Burgers @ BURGERBAR.co - Lintas Plaza

There's been some changes down at Party Play @ Lintas with the opening up of 2 new ventures, tonight's venue, BURGERBAR.co and the soon to be visited Signature. KK's burger scene has just got considerably bigger and dare I say it better! Quality out ways quantity here and all ingredients were top notch in the two burgers we tasted. My pick was the restaurants recommended 'must try' Swiss Mushroom, Mmmm reminds me of a burger available from a well known chain, I know where I prefer to eat! Firstly the beef patty was meaty, tasty and juicy, just how a well cooked burger should be, topped with fried mushrooms and onions and of course Swiss cheese, and let's not forget salad and mayo - take that Burglar King!!!

The Little Nibbler opted for a pork burger with the French Connection, another well cooked, tasty meat patty with added bacon, tomato, caramelized onions and brie cheese again with the added mayo and salad. We exchanged bites and let me tell you this is one tasty burger! We both opted for the added fries and bottomless sot drink option at 7 MYR. With so many tasty looking burger concoctions available it's going to be hard to stay away!

BURGERBAR.co is located on one side of Party Play @ Lintas Plaza.

Colourful inside eating area - honestly!

Alfresco dining available.

The Bill : 2x Burger, 2x Fries/Soft Drink = 44.50 MYR

I'm really looking forward to working my way through the menu @ BURGERBAR.co!

Bella's Breakfast @ Bella - Jalan Gaya

Breakfast @ Bella? Not everyone's first go to breakfast destination, certainly not mine, but if the breakfast set is going to continue then it may well be a regular spot for me. My pick of asam pedas beef mee goreng was top notch! The noodles were cooked perfectly with egg, spring onion and green veggie and the slightly spicy topping of beef  with hints of lemongrass was delicious! I truly enjoyed my breakfast this morning, the set also comes with tea or coffee, a great start to the day! Along with the 6 dollar set menu there's also another menu available with some western breakfasts and yummy looking pancakes.

Bella is a landmark along Jalan Gaya.

Nasi Ayam @ Singapore Chicken Rice - Api - Api Centre

Restoran Singapore Chicken Rice underwent a major facelift operation a few months ago and turned itself into a nice, bright and clean eating establishment, which includes some booth seating. The name gives it away as to what's in store, as well as some added noodle and vegetable options. I opted for the fried chicken and rice, though I'm sure it's roasted??? Never mind, it's very tasty all the same, rice is pretty good and with ginger and chilli sambals on the table it's a sure fire winner for me!

SCR is located in the Api - Api Centre, next door to Mc D's.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Ayam, 1x Ice Lemon Tea = 8.30 MYR

Tasty Nasi Ayam @ SCR's bright new restoran!

Noodles @ Boston - Karamunsing Capital

Boston's been around for a while now, we hadn't eaten here for quite a long time, probably before I started blogging, so we thought we'd return and see if it was as good as we remembered. There's quite a large menu to choose from that ranges from noodles and rice dishes to western sizzler plates and snacks, with a large choice of drinks too. I fancied something spicy and filling so the chicken curry noodles caught my attention, looked great in the menu, a little less so in real life but tasted good and hit the spot, the chicken drumstick must have come from some monster chicken, it was huge! Also in the bowl came beancurd puffs, fishcake slices, beansprouts, choy sum, fresh red chilli slices topped with Chinese chives and fried shallots.

Fried keow teow is quite possibly The Little Nibbler's favourite style of noodle, apart from kon lau mee, and here it comes fried with beef tenderloin. The meat was very tasty and not at all chewy, cooked in a hot wok to give that savoury, smoky taste along with noodles, egg, red chilli, beansprouts and a little green veggie. We both had an Ice Chocolate which was ok, nothing special, but we both enjoyed our noodles!

Boston's a fairly large restaurant offering inside and outside tables at Karamunsing Capital.

The Bill : 1x Chicken Curry Noodles, 1x Beef Keow Teow, 2x Ice Chocolate, 1x Iced Water = 37.05 MYR

Pasta @ Pasta Pasta - Jalan Gaya

Yet another new eatery in the heart of KK! With a new eatery comes more choice and as the name 'Pasta Pasta' suggests, you guessed it pasta is most definitely on the menu! Love the concept here, there's several pastas to choose from, choose one then choose a sauce, finally add a topping, simple. All dishes come in at 6.50 MYR, unless of course you want extra topping which costs an extra dollar. The servings are deceptively filling, but I have to say too saucy for our personal taste. We both had linguine, I had the tomato sauce which was very tasty, with meatballs, now I thought they tasted a little weird, The Nibbler loved them - just goes to show how different personal taste can be!

The Little Nibbler had the pesto, again very saucy for pesto, with chicken and sausage, again pretty tasty. I don't think Pasta Pasta will rival other restaurants in the area offering pasta but I think for a quick lunch or a quick bite to eat, for price you can't beat it! I'm also enjoying this hole in the wall type establishment along with Chiwawa's in the area offering something different, quick and easy - great for a bite while on a night out on the tiles!

Funky food containers with a free recipe!

Pasta Pasta is yet another food choice along the changing face of Jalan Gaya.

The Bill : 2x Pasta, 1x Extra Topping, 2x Soft Drinks = 18 MYR

Pasta Pasta fits into the multi ethnic eating scene!

Rojak Ayam @ Kak Nong Restaurant - Harbour City

I have a confession, this morning was the very first time I'd eaten rojak, I think I may have just stumbled across another favourite dish! Kak Nong's is pretty busy most times of the day, which for me is a great sign and for my first Rojak Ayam I was highly delighted! Yellow mee, shredded cucumber, beansprouts, fried tofu and boiled egg smothered in a wonderfully spicy peanut sauce, wow, simply awesome!

Kak Nong Restaurant is located at Harbour City.

The Bill : 1x Rojak Ayam, 1x Teh Tarik, 1x 100+ = 11 MYR

Rojak.......Love it!@Kak Nong's!

Nasi Lemak @ Restoran Sri Rahmat - Segama

A Malaysian breakfast favourite today of nasi lemak from Restoran Sri Rahmat. It's my first time today at this popular, central eatery serving a wide range of Malaysian food. There's quite a few breakfast options with quite possibly the cheapest laksa in town, watch this space people! But today nasi lemak took my fancy, coconut and pandan infused rice served with boiled egg, cucumber slices, tasty sambal, peanuts, ikan bilis, green veggie and a small but very yummy piece of rendang ayam. I left a very happy and satisfied orang, ready to tackle the day!

Restoran Sri Rahmat is located in the Segama shoplots, next door to Texas Grill.

The Bill : 1x Nasi Lemak, 1x Teh Tarik Sejuk = 4.80 MYR

Restoran Sri Rahmat serving lots of Malay favourites!

Chinese Food @ Restaurant Beaufort - Taman Land Breeze

One of my favourite restaurants in KK, I've been following this place around town since the fire that gutted the shop on Jalan Penampang, hopefully now, fingers crossed it has a fixed location! The new restaurant is big, bright and spotlessly clean with helpful, friendly staff. With the added bonus of an English menu I can happily order to my hearts content! Sweet & Sour Fish took my fancy and it came packed with fresh fish and vegetables, including red and green peppers, onion, cucumber and red chilli for a bit of heat, served with nasi putih, yum!

The Little Nibbler opted for dry style Beaufort Noodles with Seafood, the noodles were savoury and fried with fresh fish slice, prawns and squid as well as a little green veggie, excellent, though it has to be said we both do prefer the wet style variety.

We also ordered the Char Siu Omelette, pretty self explanatory, with added onions and chives, I really enjoyed this.

Restaurant Beaufort is now located literally around the corner from its original shop on Jalan Penampang, and is now in Taman Land Breeze.

The Bill : 1x Sweet & Sour Fish, 1x Dry Seafood Noodles, 1x Char Siu Omelette, 2x Chinese Teh Ping = 27 MYR

Restaurant Beaufort never lets me down!

Laksa & Wantan Mee @ Lau Ya Keng - Jalan Carpenter

When your in Kuching you really should sample the local specialties, two of our favourites are, and you can possibly guess them! Laksa and Kolo Mee. I'm delighted to report that Laksa is again available from Lau Ya Keng hawker centre. Even better is that it's not any old laksa! It's awesome and it almost looks like a work of art with its very yellow egg omelette strips and almost micro-herb corriander, I don't know if today this was by chance but top chefs fiddle around with their food to make it look like this for hours! Ok maybe the plastic dish with calamansi and becalan spoil it a bit, but hey you can't have everything! The soup tasted great and had a deep spicy flavour, prawns were fresh and something new for me, the chicken used had it's skin on so there was extra flavour here too! Top marks and delicious!

The Little Nibbler loves Kolo Mee, but today had Wantan Mee for a change, the wantans were filled with tasty minced pork and veg. Noodles were springy and dressed in pork fats along with char siu and topped with mince pork. Thumbs up all round!

Laksa Man.

Very busy Mee Lady!

Lau Ya Keng is located at the end of Jalan Carpenter where the Chinese Gate is located. There were new blinds going up when we left, which also has a different name on to what I know, if anyone knows the 'real' name of this place, please leave a comment also any Laksa recommendations in Kuching are very welcome!

The Bill : 1x Laksa, 1x Wantan Mee, 1x Teh C Ping, 1x Kopi C Ping = 14 MYR

With superb laksa and kolo mee, Lau Ya Keng, Jalan Carpenter should be on your eating itinerary!

Ramen @ Yamagoya Restaurant - Jalan Gaya

Another new eatery for KK, Yamagoya Restaurant a Japanese franchise offering authentic Japanese Ramen. Some of the menu items are not available yet, possibly to be introduced at a later date. As I'm quite a spice lover I opted for the Tobanjan Ramen, the pork broth was quite spicy, not too much and came with three thin slices of pork, sliced onion greens and another vegetable that I can't quite remember, the noodles were quite unique and different from any I've eaten in KK. A very enjoyable bowl of noodles!

The Little Nibbler opted for Menma Ramen, again with the same ingredients but with the added extra of bamboo shoots, this time the broth was mild almost milky. Have to say we both really enjoyed the noodles and it's something a little bit different in KK's growing eating scene, we did however feel it was a little over priced, but then again a whole lot cheaper than eating in Japan!

Fried Gyozya were pretty tasty, filled with mince pork and vegetables, served with a dipping sauce.

Yamagoya Restaurant is located along Jalan Gaya in the old Wishbone premises.

The Bill : 2x Ramen, 2x Green Tea, 1x Gyozya = 60.50 MYR

Japanese Raman in the heart of KK!
